Donald Jacques Moe was born in 1922 in Milwaukee, WI. He entered the U.S. Naval Academy on 6 September 1940 and graduated on 6 June 1943. Before reporting to his assigned ship, he went with the other members of his class on a June through August 1943 tour of naval air bases in Florida. He reported to the USS Maury in California.
