General description of the collection: The Donald Jacques Moe papers consist of an autobiography written in the summer of 1987 that has an appendix containing a family genealogy and copies of family photos. Moe describes growing up in the late 1920's and early 1930's in Wisconsin, his life at the Naval Academy, and entering the Navy. He describes daily life aboard a destroyer, both in combat and at rest. Many of his descriptions take the form of narrative incidents. He characterizes life in the post-war Navy including Mediterranean visits to Triest, North Africa, Malta, Greece, Monte Carlo, and a trip to Saudi Arabia. He joined the Central Intelligence Agency when it was barely two years old and includes much information about the Agency's activities from the 1950's through the 1970's.

Donald Jacques Moe was born in 1922 in Milwaukee, WI. He entered the U.S. Naval Academy on 6 September 1940 and graduated on 6 June 1943. Before reporting to his assigned ship, he went with the other members of his class on a June through August 1943 tour of naval air bases in Florida. He reported to the USS Maury in California.
